André started his career with a degree in Materials Engineering at the University of Cape Town, and worked at the CSIR for 1 year, before moving on to work at Eskom Technology and Research division for a period of five years.

At about that time the Internet was becoming a commercial reality in South Africa and he started working for a company distributing Internet Africa starter kits and services and his responsibilities included setting up and running the Johannesburg branch. He then saw the potential of the Internet and started a company called The CyberShoppe whose initial focus was the distribution of “Inside the Internet” software and which expanded to include website design, Intranet design and Internet consulting services. At the beginning of 1998 the website design and Intranet design division of The CyberShoppe merged with Krazy Boyz Playtime to form KRAZYBOYZ digital.
